Additional Rules

Specific accounts/contents listed on this page are subject to the additional rules outlined in their respective sections.

If a single account possesses the attributes of multiple special account types, it must comply with the regulations for all applicable attributes. Where restriction levels differ, the strictest restriction shall apply, unless otherwise agreed upon with the administrators.

Bots

TIP

We recommend registering on dedicated bot instances or services, such as https://sloth.beepboop.city.

The rules in this section apply to all bot accounts registered on this instance, as well as bot accounts from other instances federated with this site.

  1. All accounts posting automated or AI-generated content must explicitly mark the account with the Bot flag prior to publishing their first post.
  2. The determination of whether an account qualifies as a bot account rests with the administrators.
  3. No bot account on this instance is permitted to batch-post content with "Public" visibility. In principle, the frequency of public automated content posted by Bot accounts registered on this instance shall not exceed 1 time/day, 3 times/week, and 10 times/month (all three criteria must be met simultaneously).
  4. Bot accounts from external instances federated with this site may be muted by administrators if their public posting frequency exceeds 10 times/day.

Promotional contents

  1. Commercial promotional content must not be posted with "Public" visibility; the maximum allowable visibility is "Unlisted".
  2. All commercial promotional content must include a Content Warning (CW), and the promotional nature of the post must be clearly declared in both the Content Warning and the body of the post.
  3. In principle, the posting frequency for all promotional content shall not exceed 1 time/day, 2 times/week, and 5 times/month (all three criteria must be met simultaneously).
  4. Promotional content must not contain links with tracking parameters or short links; this includes affiliation links.
  5. You may not actively send commercial promotional content to others (including, but not limited to, replies and direct messages) without their explicit permission.
  6. Do not utilize groups or relay bots for commercial promotion. Do not abuse irrelevant hashtags for commercial promotion.
  7. The promotion of the following business categories and natures is prohibited: gambling, violence, medical services (commercial promotion only), and any products or services deemed illegal, unhealthy, or discriminatory by the administrators.
  8. Promotional content must not contain fraudulent material, misleading statements, or absolutist claims.
  9. If an account's avatar or bio contains promotional content, it must also comply with requirement (4). Using an account that contains promotional material to like others' posts, follow users, or engage in other activities that trigger notifications will be treated as sending promotional content to those users.

INFO

Under the above regulations, the following are permitted (provided they are not excessive):

  • Sales links for personal works or services
  • Crowdfunding or donation links for individuals or projects
  • Charitable or mutual aid donations
  • Product reviews and comments (must clearly state if it is a sponsored review)
  • etc.

However, if these contents are posted frequently, they will be treated as commercial promotion and thus subject to the restrictions mentioned above.

Group Accounts

The rules in this section apply to all group accounts registered on this instance.

  1. Group accounts registered on this instance desiring to post content that appears publicly on the local timeline (i.e., content sent directly by the account itself with "Public" visibility) must, by default, comply with the same frequency limits as bot accounts. Any activity exceeding this limit requires administrator approval.

Mirror Accounts

The rules in this section apply to all mirror accounts registered on this instance.

  1. Mirror accounts must explicitly declare their status as a mirror account in their profile bio and provide a link to the source account.
  2. Mirror accounts that automatically repost contents must explicitly mark the account with the Bot flag.
  3. Mirror accounts registered on this instance must provide proof of explicit permission from the owner of the mirrored account.
  4. Content published by mirror accounts is subject to all provisions of the Content Guidelines.
