Registration Availability ​

Currently, gotosocial.social is accepting new registrations.

gotosocial.social determines whether to accept new user registrations based on user activity levels and available server resources. Key metrics for user activity primarily include the number of active users and the frequency of user posts. Once the volume of new content surpasses the moderation capacity of our administration team, or if available server resources become insufficient, we will close registrations.

Announcements regarding the opening or closing of the registration channel will be published via the administrator account. The current status of registration availability can be viewed on the homepage.

Registration Process ​

  1. Check the Terms, Rules, and Privacy Policy
  2. Visit https://gotosocial.social/signup.
  3. Fill out the registration form with your desired username, email address, and password.
  4. State your reason for joining gotosocial.social. Enter a few sentences about why you want to join this instance. If you know someone on the instance already, you may want to mention them here. You might want to link to any other accounts you have elsewhere too.
  5. Check "I have read and accept the terms and conditions of Go2Social, and I agree to abide by the instance rules."
  6. Click "Submit"
  7. You will receive an email with a confirmation link. Click the link to complete your registration.
  8. Wait for your account to be approved by the administrators. You will receive an email notification once your account has been approved.
  9. Welcome to gotosocial.social!

FAQ ​

How long will it take for my account to be approved?

Typically a few hours, but it can take up to a day or two depending on the volume of new registrations and the availability of our moderation team. Feel free to ping us if you feel your account has been pending for too long.

What should I write in the "Reason for joining" field?

You can provide something like:

  • Your other social media accounts
  • Someone you know on the instance
  • A brief introduction to yourself, interests, hobbies, etc.

Please refrain from using AI or other automated tools to generate your registration rationale. It is essential that this justification originates from you personally, as AI-generated content is highly likely to be classified as spam.

Why did my application got rejected?

When your registration application is rejected, you will typically receive an email that includes the specific reasons for the refusal. Due to the varied nature of each account, we can only provide a general potential reason here: we believe you may break instance rules or caused disturbance to other users.

Once you believe you have addressed our concerns, you are welcome to resubmit your registration application.

As spammers frequently submit frivolous registration requests, we may also quietly decline your registration without providing any email response. If these explanations (and the email you received) do not sufficiently address your questions, please feel free to contact us.
